A New Year, A Softer Beginning

Wishing you a very blessed New Year

The turning of the year carries a powerful energy. A clean page. A fresh chapter. An invitation to begin again. Everywhere we look, we are encouraged to create a new you, new habits, new goals, new rules for living better.

And while intention can be beautiful, it can also quietly carry pressure.

In my book, I return again and again to this truth: transformation does not begin with rejection of who we are. It begins with relationship.

A more compassionate relationship with yourself does not need a new year to start. It doesn’t require waiting 12 months, hitting a milestone, or becoming someone else first. It is available in this moment.

“You don’t need a new version of yourself. You need a more compassionate relationship with the one you already are.”

Many New Year’s resolutions are rooted in the belief that we are not enough as we are, that happiness, peace, or confidence live somewhere in the future. But what if this year isn’t about fixing yourself?

What if 2026 is about listening more closely? About softening the inner voice rather than sharpening it? About choosing presence over perfection.

Compassion is not passive. It is an active choice to meet yourself honestly, on the good days and the heavy ones. And the beautiful thing is, you don’t have to get it right all year. You only ever have to return.

Reflection for the beginning of the year:
Instead of asking “Who do I want to become this year?” try gently asking:

Where can I begin again today, without waiting?
How do I want to treat myself this year?
What does compassion look like for me on an ordinary day?

These weekly reflections are part of my ongoing journey of turning lived experience into words, and words into gentle guidance. Thank you for being here as the book, and the becoming continues.

Much love & light
