When Your Inner Light Feels Dim

Learning to Trust Yourself Again.

There comes a moment in life when you look around and think, How did I get here? Not in a dramatic way, but in an honest, quiet recognition that somewhere along the line… you dimmed your own light.

Maybe it happened slowly, over years of trying to keep everyone else happy.
Maybe it happened suddenly, after one moment that shook your world.
Or maybe it’s been so long that you can’t even remember the last time you felt truly like yourself.

For a long time, I felt like I was walking through life half-awake. I wasn’t unhappy, but I wasn’t happy either. I was just… existing. The light inside me felt distant, almost unreachable.

But here’s the truth I want you to hold onto:

Your light never leaves you. It waits. It stays. It stays for you ready to be rediscovered.

Writing The Happiness Companion has been a powerful reminder of that. Not because I set out thinking I had all the answers, far from it. In fact, I laughed when the idea came to me. A book? Me? The woman who reads about twenty books a lifetime and prefers bullet points?

Yet here I am, writing not because I’m a writer, but because I’m a human being who spent years searching for her own light… and finally found her way back.

And I realised something:

Trust is the bridge back to yourself.

Trusting that you’re allowed to change.
Trusting that happiness doesn’t require perfection.
Trusting that even in the quiet, uncertain moments, you’re still moving forward.

So if your inner light feels dim today, don’t panic. Don’t judge yourself.
Just pause long enough to whisper:

I’m still here. And I’m coming back to me.

Because the journey doesn’t begin with a huge leap, it begins with a flicker. Stick with me for a while and see if that flicker grows into something brighter.

Much love & light
